These are diagnostic aids, not certified measurements

Every tool on this site reads what your browser exposes through standard web APIs. Browsers normalise, filter and sometimes estimate those values. A sample rate shown here is what the browser reports, which may be the audio context's rate rather than the microphone's native rate. A frame rate is what the camera claims it is delivering. Treat the numbers as strong indications rather than instrument-grade measurements.

A passing test does not guarantee an application will work

If your microphone works on this site, its hardware, drivers and operating system permissions are functioning. It does not follow that Zoom, Discord or any other application will work, because each keeps its own permissions and device selection. That is why our fix guides exist, and why we suggest testing inside the actual application before anything important.

Hearing and screen tests are subjective

The frequency sweep on our speaker and headphone pages depends on your hearing as much as on your equipment. Losing the top of the range is a normal part of ageing and is not evidence of a fault. Similarly, the dead pixel test relies on your eyes and your screen's brightness; a faint stuck pixel may be invisible in a bright room and obvious in a dark one. Neither test is a medical or professional assessment.

Repair suggestions carry risk

Where we describe physical remedies — cleaning a mouse switch with contact cleaner, applying gentle pressure to a stuck pixel, using compressed air in a keyboard — those descriptions are informational. They can damage hardware if done carelessly, and they may void a manufacturer's warranty. If a device is under warranty, contact the manufacturer before attempting anything.

Not professional advice

Nothing on this site is professional audio engineering, IT or medical advice. If a hearing difference between your ears appears in the frequency sweep, that is worth raising with a medical professional rather than concluding anything from a web page.
